Match-Ups are Flexible & Fun, Here are 6 Fun Ways to Use Them:
Solo Play
Give each child the cards to one category of match-ups and have them find the correct matches independently. This is an awesome activity for early finishers or as kids trickle in to class!
Pair Relays
Break the class into pairs and give each pair a set of cards to one match-up category. The pair to get all their matches right first wins.
Team Challenge
Break the class into two teams and give each the cards from three or four categories. The team to get all the matches right first wins.
Bible Go-Fish
Combine two categories to give you 48 cards. Shuffle and deal them out to two to four players so that each player has six cards. Everyone should lay down matches before turning over the top card. Place a copy of the Answer Sheets from those two categories in the middle of the table for everyone to see and use. Players should then take turns pulling from the deck or the turned-up pile until somebody runs out of cards. The person with the most matches at that point wins the game.
Matches Rummy
Combine 3 categories to give you 72 cards. Shuffle and deal them to two to six players, so that each player has eight cards. Keep the Answer Sheets from those categories where everyone can see and use them. You cannot lay down pairs in this game—you have to lay down four at a time: two Description Cards with their Matching Answer Cards. The first person to be out of cards ends the game, and everyone counts their points. Each match is a point.
Most Matches
Spread all the Answer Cards from one category out on a table. Put the Description Cards in a pile upside-down. Have the first student pull a card from the pile, then grab the Answer Card that matches. If the student is right, he gets to keep the match. If he’s wrong, he has to put it back. The student with the most cards at the end of the game wins.
