Play Dough Bible Lessons

Discover How to Use Play Dough
to Teach Kids About God!

Kids love play-dough.

From the way it feels in your hands to the way it smells to all the different shapes it can form, few toys inspire creativity and wonder like play-dough.

So just imagine what you could do in your classroom if you were able to use it as a teaching tool.

Imagine the interest you could generate …

Imagine the attention you could garner …

Imagine the understanding you could foster …

Well, now you can do all of those things thanks to our new Teaching With Toys – Play Dough Bible Lessons.

Featuring six lessons centered around the use of play-dough, this lesson pack is exactly what you need to kick the interest and excitement up a notch in and help your kids increase their understanding of the Bible.

Here's What You Can Look Forward To:

Play Dough

Each of the 6 in-depth lessons includes a game and a craft so you’ll have everything you need to take full advantage of the teaching benefits of play-dough.

Your preparation for each lesson will include creating a Bible concept out of play dough, by following our easy instructions & pictures.

No artistic skills are required. If you can make a ball and push your thumb in the middle to create a bowl, you have all the skills necessary for our play dough creations!

You will use that creation as part of your lesson and then students will also make their own versions of it as a craft.

While kids are molding, we provide you discussion questions to get them thinking about what their artwork means.

After that, there will be some fun, fast and memorable games involving play dough to help reinforce the concepts.

Here’s a sneak peak of the lessons covered:

I am the Vine; You are the Branches

Play dough brings life to the vine and branches parable and gives kids a great opportunity to see what the metaphor means about spiritual growth. Kids will get a renewed understanding of the importance of patience as you discuss how spiritual growth is like plant life – you can’t see it happening!

The Potter’s Clay

Making vessels with play dough is a great metaphor for how God molds us into better people by allowing him to do his good work. Kids will get to see you build and remold, just like the potter of Jeremiah 18:3.

Fruits of the Spirit

Using the nine Fruits of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23 is a great way to teach students about spiritual growth. It is also makes a fun play-dough project where they can get more familiar with each of those nine fruits: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

I am the Bread of Life

Jesus used the metaphor “bread of life,” aware that it would be chock full of meaning for us. This lesson using slices of bread made from play dough –and a loaf of real bread - will help kids see a number of ways that Jesus fortifies our lives.

The Lost Sheep

In the Bible Jesus often refers to his followers as sheep and himself as a shepherd. In this lesson, students will learn to take great comfort in this relationship, which is explained in John 10:27, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

The Mustard Seed of Faith

A mustard seed of faith will bring people forgiveness. It will increase the size of their hearts. It will make those blind to the Gospel suddenly see it. It will increase your patience, endurance, faith, hope, vision, and it will make your heart very loving. Students will learn all of this and more in this lesson.

Note: Lessons were designed with children ages 5-12 in mind, but some younger or older children might also enjoy these too!

You Don't Need to BUY Play Dough,
You Can Make It Yourself!

No need to spend lots of money on Play Dough from the store (although, that will work too!). We provide three tried-and-true recipes for making soft, moldable, chemical-free play dough at home!

(We make a big batch and keep it in a tupperware for months at our church)

Here is just some of what your students will learn from these play dough lessons:

Why spiritual growth is a lot like physical growth and why it is so important to understand that
How God prunes our lives so that we can move on to something bigger and better
Why if we want to bear much fruit we have to stay attached to God
How Jesus molds us into strong spiritual people, one day at a time
Why disappointment can often lead to something better than we ever imagined
How to ensure we keep growing spiritually
Why Jesus is the real bread of life
How to satisfy your spiritual hunger
Why when we do something wrong, or if we wander off from our faith, we should never be afraid to talk to God
Why the easiest way to solve challenges is to call out to God and draw close to him
Why a mustard seed of faith is all that’s needed to do great things
Why some prayers may appear to go unanswered – plus, how to pray for the right things
And much more
